Materials: BLANKEN, plastic bags, scissors
Description: I like the BLANKEN shower caddy but somehow all my stuff falls out of it, when I shower.
To solve this problem I grabbed some white plastic bags and cut them in stripes. I wrapped the plastic "yarn" around the caddy and now everything stays in place. Super simple hack.

Sorry for the negativity but anything can be hacked in any way. If you're going to post a simple/obvious hack, at least do it intelligently. This looks so unprofessional, do you really hang that up in your home?
ReplyDeleteYou should have just cut up some synthetic textile and sewn it... or if you want a yarnish look, at least make it look good. This is just pure ugly.

You should have just pointed out what your preferences of material would be ... or if you want to recommend a change of style to the OP, at least make it sound like a suggestion. This is just pure insult.

ReplyDeleteSolutions are always good, everything doesn't have to (and shouldn't have to) be seen as a final, ideal result for everyone. Don't we all come here for inspiration? All these are great hacks from the minute they were made, because they led to something better from something that was good but not quite what we wanted and that's what is so great about this site.
I'm sure loads of people have shampoo bottles sliding around in their showers and doing (something like) this would solve the problem. Great job Gerry!
Get rid of all negativity and complete lack of constructive criticism and get inspired and creative and make things work for you. Anything else is a complete waste of time.
Rudeness aside, I have to agree with anon1... okay hack but poor implmentation.
ReplyDeleteActually, I like the hack *and* the materials chosen: actually a really good choice as recycling a bag that would otherwise go to landfill AND using a material that is already waterproof.
ReplyDeleteI think it's great! I have a rug made of crocheted plastic grocery bags in my bathroom, so it would coordinate beautifully.

ReplyDeleteI personally use one of those 3 tier hanging basket things on my shower rod . . . Got it at Ikea years ago! It holds soaps, razors, and hair potions, plus keeps brushes outta the way too! I scrub and reorganize it every so often, and spray paint it to freshen it up occasionally. It works perfectly for me, because I don't like bottles lining the sides of the tub.

This is the perfect solution for taking those white coated wire shelving units that are rather inexpensive- but look like a giant shower caddy in my living room- and disguising them to mimic my decor. i don't have the patience to pattern each side of the baskets, so as to cover with fabric- but weaving with yarn or strips of fabric is a brilliant idea!
