Materials: Trofast storage box
Description: We needed storage for our Ikea Vika Amon desk and Svanbo coffee table (to hide the many controllers we have!).
We already had the Trofast storage unit so we went out and brought 2 more little white storage boxes.
The hack is pretty simple and quick. We took out the white rails from the storage unit and put some 3M double sided tape
on the TOP side of the rail. 
We flipped the coffee table over. Then with the box and rails "assembled" (do this so you don't even need to do any measuring for a perfect fit), we positioned it in place and voila!...an easy pull-out drawer to keep your surfaces clutter free.
**Note that the pine storage unit has grooves instead of the detachable rails
**Also, you could use rails from the pax storage systems (which I think you can buy separately)

ReplyDeleteAlright, Flame, you missed the whole point! It could be for TV Guide, candy, other magazines or the crossword puzzle and a pencil. Hell, use it to hide the lube! It can be for anything YOU want and it's a great idea! Good Job!

ReplyDeleteI've done something similar; I have a roll-out keyboard under my coffee table. Fits lots of remotes, plus a small bluetooth keyboard and a mouse and pad. This would be a nice addition, a place to put the remotes I rarely ever use.
ReplyDeleteIf were to need to buy a Trofast storage unit, wouldn't that make this an expensive hack?
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to buy the unit, only the bin and rails. Only the white Trofast units have rails so you have to look in that section or ask about them saying you have a white unit. I'd be looking at around $3-4.
ReplyDeleteThis is a brilliant hack and I want to do this too. One question, double sided tape is strong enough to hold the drawer??
