Materials: Blanda Blank
Description: When my husband and I remodeled our bathroom a few years ago, we wanted to make the most of a small space and stay within our tiny budget. He found an old drinking fountain assembly at a salvage shop, and thought we could retrofit it to accommodate a larger bowl of some sort. Voila, the 14" IKEA Blanda Blank serving bowl.
He drilled out the bottom of the bowl, mounted it to the drinking fountain wall bracket, added some necessary plumbing and we were in business. After four years it's still as good as new!

Happy New Year and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a part of Ikea Hacker. It's been a great year filled with some wonderful hacks. My annual list of favourites will be out soon and you'll be able to vote for the Hack of the Year. But ... I am open to nominations, so, if you have a favourite which you want to see on the list, let me know in the comments below. ~ Jules

Sweet use of such a utilitarian object. Truly inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules, for the great ideas, for hosting all of the grand and obtuse uses of Ikea items.
Happy New Year!
Now that's pretty spiffy! I can imagine the ton of cash they saved. :)
ReplyDeleteI would like to nominate the Lift coffee table.. It was THE SIMPLEST,the best and the most functional..very cool hack..
ReplyDeleteI used the same bowl for a sink hack in my small bathroom. The only difference was I used the small Ivar cabinet as a vanity
ReplyDeleteI thought of doing something like this, but draining the sink into the toilet reservoir.
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAlso...just wondering where the heck do I find me a husband like this one and the many other handy hubs who whip upincredible projects at home?! :) just fantastic!
Where did he find the faucet? Our house has a nightmare collection of pipe bits the builder put in to act as a faucet for the laundry room, and we've been looking for a replacement ever since we bought the place...
ReplyDeletein what i see as recent posts, i'd like to vote as hack of the year for the bygel stiletto shoe rack, the lift coffee table, the bedroom dress boys. but i'll wait to see what jules' choice is.
