Slick modern Ikea look becomes country cottage coziness

Materials: Bonde cupboard

Description: An old dated Bonde cupboard (at least I think it was a Bonde cupboard) was updated by cutting out panels from the doors and covering the panels with chicken wire and fabric. This turned the modern yet outdated Ikea cupboard into a country cottage gem.

  1. That's the one thing I find missing in most of Ikea's stuff, and why i'm so glad it's hackable. It's generally so plain and austere and "mod"; I love furniture that's cozy and has irregularities & character. this is lovely!

  2. I accidentally got here, don't know how. I must thank you for this site; I thought I was the only one to repurpose old Ikea furniture/bookshelves! I'm so glad to find that I have 'friends!' Thanks for the site; you've provided me with even more ideas!!

  3. Where did you get the trim for the cutout's frame? I'm especially interested in that scroll-y edging on the inside where the chicken wire begins. Thanks in advance.
