Materials: Patrull air cleaner, switch
Description: For some bizarre reason, the Patrull air cleaner doesn't have an off switch. It's annoying to always have to pull and insert the plug, hence this hack.
I cut the cable and added a generic cable switch. Problem solved
Note: I'm sure this hack voids your warranty. I don't explain the details because you shouldn't attempt something like this if you're not knowledgeable enough about electronics that you'd need an explanation...

For such things I just use a switchable power outlet adaptor, like this:

And it doesn't affect your guarantee.
Another way to solve this problem is to put a wireless power switch in the power-outlet and then connecting the Patrull to that.

Last week, I changed a light bulb in my Ikea lamp. Should I write it up, since obviously anything qualifies as "hack" now?
ReplyDeletesince the device is a Class II-appliance which is secure for use without "earth", modification using any cheap switch like this potetially makes the device dangerous.

Wow... yeah, it's not that impressive just adding a switch to a cord... but is there really any reason for you commenters to be jerks to the poster?
ReplyDeleteYes, it's easy and kind of a pointless post without any instructions, but being mean is even LESS useful.
The air filter is meant to run 24 hours a day for maximum benefit - it is designed to do this and at an extremely low power wattage (£8 / year).
