Ivar cabinets mounted on wooden supports

Materials: Ivar

I had a lot of Ivar cabinets assembled in the standard fashion, until one day one of the metal tabs that supports the cabinets gave way.

That’s when I decided to mount the cabinets on simple wooden supports. I think it looks much neater. This also turned out to have the added advantage that the cabinets take up less horizontal space.

The stacked cabinets are held in place by dowels fitted in the holes that are already present in the top and bottom of the Ivar cabinets. Metal connector plates were also screwed on the back.

Anonymous #1 – Ivar is pine (good quality pine, too). This is what nice pine looks like. Obviously the look of pine is not to your taste, but there are millions that disagree with you. :-)

    Hey, are those papercrafts? :)
I have a Detolf for them, but it was too small for even the time I bought it – need to buy some more…

Love this hack. Love the look of the natural wood.
Obviously, you need some more storage room. I would add another row of (small) cabinets on top, put a coloured mirror behind the glass shelves and install some lightning there.
    Nice Work!

that has to be the ugliest wood in the world! I’m glad it works for u but I would personally buy something with a little bit more quality and better looking.
