Materials:Expedit Bookcase, LACK Wall shelf, Shelves Carriers, Material from an old scratching post

Description: I took an Expedit bookcase and a LACK wall shelf to create a storage cabinet which also functions as a cat playground.

  1. So does the cat actually use the hammock? We have one on our cat tree and the cats never use it.

  3. I'm sure my cat would love it !
And I would love to have something not-ugly for my cat (for a change)

Is the shelf solid enough without any support from the wall ?

  4. @Trish: one cat used to use the old hammock we had previously, but he hasn't used the new one yet. He probably needs to get used to the new location of the hammock (we hope)

@Madame Patate: The lack wall shelf is screwed to the bookcase with a pair of shelf carriers. The combination is very stable.

  6. Is the shelf carrier what you made the hammock out of? Is that sold at Ikea? I went there today and couldn't find that part but I didn't look very hard, I was kind of rushed. Please let me know as I would like to make this for my 3 cats too.

  8. @Christin, for the hammock, I used materials from our old scratching post. You can also buy a complete hammock at the petstore.

  9. I LOVE this and will probably need to make one too! My fav part about your pictures is the cats using it, even before it's all together! So cute!

  10. I like this! Thanks for the great pics...I am planning trip to IKEA and will be picking up the EXPEDIT & LACK. BTW, your black and white kitty looks exactly like mine...I had to take a double-take...wondering when he had gotten away to get his cute little self into your pic! :) Per chance is your black & white a Ragamuffin breed? Mine is and is very sweet! Cheers!
