Bomull became roman
Materials: Ikea Bomull bedspread
Description: I needed FIVE panels (big and small) of roman blinds for my bedroom, and those upscale textured and nice upholstery fabrics are out of my current budget set for window dressing...so I remembered my favourite unbleached cotton from Ikea....the BOMULL bedspread! With the perfect width and length, these fit into my budget perfectly.
After one whole day of sewing, it's my 1st attempt at roman blinds by the way, thus I am not familiar with it..much.....
I have 3 small windows and 1 extra wide extra large window dressed in zen....
I even had some extrasss....not much, but enough to make a twirly skirt for my 4.5 year old :D

what an amazing bedroom!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
WAOW!!! like omg WOW! im so jealous, i have to do some serious ikea shopping. such an inspiration!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this!
I was at ikea a few weeks ago and bought two of those exact Bombull bedspreads for $6.99 each. My plan was to make curtains for my office, but after seeing this- roman shades are the way to go! These look great!
ReplyDeleteThat's one nice looking bedroom, not too messy and not too simple.
ReplyDeleteVery nice!! This is one of the best entries I've seen.
ReplyDeletebeautiful bedroom!!
ReplyDeleteThat is really cool, which bed frame is that used?
ReplyDeleteI did the other way: ha had a room whose bed had a bomull bed-cover and also some sheet of the same tissue that are no longer on sale (i bought probably as a discontinued item).
ReplyDeleteI needed the upper sheet for bed, and also the curtains for the window.
I went to ikea to buy curtains. i found some curtains whose colour fit with the room (almost entirely in birch). They was, by chance the bomull ones. I did not realized that was double sheet curtains. i just looked for the right colour.
When at home i mounted them and found that they were too much heavy with the douple sheet, so i removed the heavier one and left the lighter one (i am in italy, and here all homes have blinds at the windows, capable of giving a complete obscurity, so curtains do not need to fileter light too much). Now i had two sheets from a curtain. i sewn borders and now have two bedsheets that fit perfectly with the others.
Exactly the reverse of what you did !!!!
That's fantastic! People don't realize how great it is to be able to sew! You can create just about anything with fabric.
