Ikea LACK bookcase to Entertainment center

Materials: LACK Bookcase, IKEA DIODE

Description: I was frustrated with the high cost of other entertainment units so i decided to get an IKEA LACK bookcase and modify it into the entertainment center i dreamed of. I started with some new feet for the bookcase then loaded it up with IKEA DIODER. I Have uploaded a step by step guide on my website.

  1. My only question on this is, doesn't LACK already come as a media center?

  2. At least here in the U.S., the LACK bookcase/shelving unit is $30 more (+ extra $ for feet) than the tv unit is (with everything included). I *do* like that the bookcase is longer than the tv unit though, and also like the four separate spaces underneath!

  3. Nice! Would have looked better though if you could hide the cables in some way. Maybe add frosted plexi glass bahind the shelves to hide it? In that way the light from the diods would still show.

  4. This looks great. I also found in another blog similar shelves from Ikea and transformed into an entertainment center. Hers were three shelves.
