DJ Stolmen Studio

Description: It took me 2 weeks to design this Stolmen DJ Studio. I have downloaded the tool from IKEA site and used it to design and visualize what I’ve wanted.

1. I installed 4 STOLMEN Post without drilling.

2. I place the EXPEDIT Shelving unit with all my Vinyl Records.

3. I installed the STOLMEN Shelves 1 on top of the EXPEDIT shelving unit then the others.

4. I installed the STOLMEN Shoe Rack to use for MacBook Pro.

5. I installed all 4 LACK Shelves and screwed the sides of the LACK Shelves on the STOLMEN mounting fixture to give more stable support.

6. I installed 2 metal plates on the wall and hooked the KOMPLEMENT shoe rack (Slanted) on top of Rack shelf (For Mic Mixer and Trigger Finger).

7. I installed the STOLMEN hook to hang Headphones.

8. Finally, I installed all DJ gears , PC and accessories, I used SIGNUM cable organizer and Velcro to organize power supply and cables.

Brilliant idea! This looks so good and so FUN! I don’t have even half the amount of awesome DJ equipment that would justify building this awesome studio, but you know that if I did I would build this bad boy studio tomorrow. Are there any professional DJs out there who have seen this and are building it for themselves? Is this something that a professional DJ would drool over? Just curious. Thanks for the share!

Is this pdf still available anywhere?

  3. Ben says:

Okay! Here is a link to a complete PDF with article numbers/current prices and a full description of updates changes due to some parts of Stolmen being discontinued.

You can take this list into ANY IKEA worldwide, and the article numbers will be valid, and any co-worker in a yellow shirt can help you locate the items’ location in your store’s warehouse.

Okay, so I completely forgot to create the shopping list for you guys. However, i’ll be back at the store tomorrow morning and will get it done. I will post a link to a PDF copy of the list tomorrow…you can then walk into any IKEA, give them the list, and they can give you locations in their warehouse to pick up the items.

Rough estimate before taxes? Between $400-$475.
    Sorry for the delay.

    1. Has anyone worked out the cost? An estimation is good enough?
    2. “installed 4 STOLMEN Post without drilling”? Is this stable & secure?

Nice to see someone from Dubai on ikeahacker!

This is an EXCELLENT use of Stolmen! I work at IKEA Charlotte…and since a couple people wanted to know how much this setup will run you…when I get to work tomorrow, I’ll price it out and make a shopping list of articles for ya! If you’d like a copy-EMAIL ME and I’ll make sure ya get it tomorrow night. :) Cheers! [email protected]

  8. Thank you all for your comments :)

I’ve as the local carpenter with the same setup and it almost the same cost. But what Ive like with STOLMEN is you can alwyas change/adjust/remove/add anytime you want :)

Sound quality is not really important at the moment but if I start producing music then I think I need to find a better place for the Studio Monitor speakers.

I’ll will post the total price shortly :)

you can check my mixes on soundcloud.com/djmx3 :-)

If you will install them “L” shaped (like what I have) then it will work :)

Was there any requirements to drill into the wall for this setup? We currently live in a rented apartment and would like to do a similar setup using the poles except we would not be mounting such heavy equipment onto the structure.

I think nobody who has legs can sit in this corner, there is no space under the desk…

Terrific use of a tight space! Now, send us a mix please haha!

What was total price for everything from Ikea?

  13. Anonymous says:

I love the look, but if sound quality is at all important to you then your probably getting some horrible bass buildup in the corner there.

BEST Ikea hack I’ve ever seen! This is outstanding!!!! :)

  15. Anonymous says:

Very well done. Wouldn’t it had been much cheaper to buy the wood and build a replica of an ikea system though? Did you compare $ of the two?

  16. Anonymous says:

I like it. Maximum use of minimal space.

  17. Ryan says:

    Very cool, nice job.

  18. Jansen says:

    Wow…thats tight! regards from germany!
