It has taken us lots of moves, lots of trials and errors,and lots of hacking, but finally, we figured out a simple, convenient cat box solution that also fits our decor. Hooray!
We used a PS cabinet on casters cut a entry hole in one side, sanded and taped the edges, and put a litter box inside.
We and our 4 cats, are now quite happy."

ReplyDeleteFour cats use this one box? Do you have four more of these around your house? How do the cats feel about the tiny opening and the low clearance?
ReplyDeleteDon't tape the edges. go to a car parts place and get door edge moulding or "protector" and put this on. it's safer for kitty and looks far better.

ReplyDeleteThat is really cute, but I would take off the wheels. My cats would be rolling around the apartment in that thing. They launch in and out of the litterbox with a lot of force. Right now the box is in the bathroom, and they jump all the way out to the hallway without ever setting a paw on tile.

ReplyDeleteFor young cats, that looks like a cute idea, but when your cats get older, health problems often get in the way of them being able to use a litter box at all, let alone one is such a cramped space. For my cat, it was diabetes. Also, urinary infections and arthritis can also cause them to go on the floor.
ReplyDeletecute, but how do you keep the cat(s) from eating the rubber plant? Our cats killed mine, along with every other houseplant I had...

your box is clever but hardly gives the kitties enough room to relieve themselves comfortably. their poor heads are surely down low while they're using the box. how yucky is that?
it seems to me your main priority was style verses your pets comfort.
i urge you to use the same clever idea but with a taller box. your kitties deserve it, don't you think? :)

My most importent question would be if it really contains the smells, because that is our main problem!
