Congrats to Martina and Sonic the hamster!

Martina's Hamster Haven led right from the start. The Chicken Home put up a fight but in the last few days of the poll, the Ham pulled away and took home the trophy. The Hamster Haven wins at 28% of votes, with the Chicken Home coming in second with 21%. Thank you, thank you everyone for joining in the fun and voting. For her effort, Martina wins a gift card from Amazon.

I want to thank the good people over at AT who voted Ikeahacker as the best Home Tech Blog of 2009 in the Homies. Wow. What an honour to be on the same page with insanely cool sites like LifeHacker and CoolHunting.

  3. It's wonderful that you won! Be sure you get something wonderful for your little fuzzybuttz too with the winnings, and keep us updated too!

By the way, I shared you homemade home with Lucky's Wonder of Chincillas founder Jamie Glaser. Look 'em up and join their forum! They're a cool bunch, though I only have cats!

  4. For all those who were wondering: I'm still happy with the hamster cage, there were no problems with gnawing or ventilation or anything. I even started a blog where I collect similar hamster homes. Find more info about my cage and about building hamster cages on my German/English blog here: http://hamstergehege.blogspot.com/2010/01/mein-gehege-aus-einem-ikea-expedit.html
