Kristin tucks an ultra-hardworking craft area into a computer armoire. It's amazing to see how much stuff she managed to sneak in there.
"Using several Ikea products, I took an old computer armoire and cabinets to make a scrapbooking/craft/desk/office area. I don't know the names of the actual parts I used, but you can see it all with descriptions on my blog. The desktop is actually the glass door for a tall cabinet or armoire that I found in the as-is section (my favorite!) for about $10. My husband cut some MDF to place under it for stability, and I used the small cabinets on each end. Inside the armoire are towel rods for ribbon spools, bins for storage, metal strips with magnets, and magnetic spice containers for storing smaller pieces"

Love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteKristin,,, COLOR ME GREEN.... Were did you get the turn table on the left of the laptop? Look like it would hold all my pens.
ReplyDeleteNow is your ever near Austin Tx. I could use you to make my craft area look like that just supper
Looks good!
ReplyDeleteI also want to have a such craft station...
I have spent so much time having fun organizing everything that, unfortunately, I have gotten behind on my crafting! :) Thanks, Jules!
ReplyDeleteNormally I go fairly unimpressed with the Ikea hacks, but the swing out table that is built into the door is really a stroke of genius.
ReplyDeleteIt can't be very large or bear much weight, but the mechanics and the rounded corner to clear the opening as it swings is probably the best innovation I have seen on a cabinet in a long time. My Father has been selling and installing cabinets for about 15 years, and I have never seen that.
The pen carousel is from Making Memories called Scrapbook Desktop Carousel.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I've been looking for ways
too. much. clutter.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Josh, that swingin' table is pretty cool. I wish there were more pictures though.
ReplyDeleteTo the anonymous person who felt the need to mention the clutter. I don't 'do' crafts, but even I can recognize this is NOT CLUTTER! In fact, it's very, VERY organized!
Very cool! I've been looking for ways
ReplyDeleteAwesome craft cabinet. I am looking to do the same in my tiny house, but the last time I looked at IKEA the only large computer armoire they had was a corner cabinet. I need one with a flat back. Do any of you IKEA hackers know if that is one tall cabinet or two stacked atop each other? Also, what is the name of this cabinet? Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what the name of the armoire is, but it is in two peices and is large. I just loved this idea and searched craigslist until I found one exactly like this armoire. I actually got it for $40, what a find! Now its of to Ikea to get what I need to organize it for my sewing cabinet.
