Laundry basket storage hack

Not one to air her dirty laundry, Megan found a fantastic way to hide them away.

"I have altered a Vattern Cabinet in my bathroom to enable a laundry basket to slide in and out to hide the dirty laundry away. I achieved this using a drawer unit and a larger cupboard door instead of the drawer face."

You think this is just any other bathroom cabinet.

But voila! It slides out to reveal a special drawer for a pop up laundry basket.

  1. I love the concept, but I suspect the cabinet front will quickly work its way loose from the drawer bottom, due to the leverage of pulling on the top of the front to open the drawer. Running a taut wire from the top front to the bottom rear on one side or both, would probably extend the life of this hack by quite a bit without adding much to the cost.

  2. Ulrike - Like you suggest i did think that it would become loose as well but i am happy to report this hack was completed 2 years ago and i have not had this problem so far. I haven't even had to tighten up the screws at all. However if it does become loose i now know how i can fix it. Cheers, Megan

  3. Hello, what a nice idea!
We have used a Vattern Cabinet as a little library for our child's room.
