A TV unit rerun

Elodie gives her old TV unit a new burst of life. Again.

"This is a third life for my TV furniture. At the beginning it was 'birch'. I transformed it in brown and flashy colors, and some years later I painted it in white and then I put a shiny varnish. A friend of mine call it the Apple furniture! I'm happy because I've got it for 7 years now, and I still love it because it changed his look several times."

  1. How did you paint it without everything chipping off?

    It looks great in white!

  2. Curious to know how you covered over the birch finish - primer? If so, what kind and what kind of paints did you use? Looks great with all the multi-colours!

  3. I love that tv stand. I's called "opi" or something like that and they don't sell it anymore. I have it in birch and may re-purpose it as a bench seat with a cushion on it. Nice job with the white paint!

  4. It looks great. I too would like to get more information on your painting technique. I tried to pain some ikea furniture once, and it was a disaster.

  5. I've had success with painting Ikea furniture by very gently sanding with a 400 grit (fine) sandpaper and then primering with a spray primer. I used a high-gloss paint which seems to conceal brush marks better, and have had success with spray enamels. Good luck.

Love it in white! I have the exact same tv stand, also in birch. I have been thinking about repainting it to - guess what - white. Would you mind sharing tips such as what kind of paint/brush/technique?

  10. Hello everyone!
I apologyze for my delay and for my english too!
After using sandpaper (big then fine) I began with the colors : I put some adhesif ribbon all arround each squarres. Then I used tiny jars of painting (accryl 15 ml) then I varnish them. And for the white part I painted it with a lacquer using a special roller (small). Et voilà!!
    A bientôt.

You're an expert "Anonymous" (an anonymous expert!) : it's a floor of the XVIIIth century. Old school but efficient!
