Recover your armchair

Jill B got sorta sick of the outdated fabric. She says, "Ikea makes such nice fabric by the yard. Why don't they use it on the furniture?" So she updated it with a new cover she sewed herself.

  2. I thought of the same thing, because I recently inherited a beautiful victorian sofa. I contacted IKEA to see if their fabric was uphostery grade since it IS SO CUTE! This was their response:

    Hello Charlotte,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

All of our fabric is light weight and may not be strong enough to use
    for upholstered items.

We do apologize for any inconvenience, and we thank you for your
    inquiry.

    Best Regards,

  3. Hmm... I bought some fabric at Ikea and made it into dresses. It's definitely sturdier than most dresses. About as heavy as khaki pants material. Use your judgement. If you have a lot of metal studs on your clothing, go with leather, otherwise, it would probably wear well enough for a few years.

    I lined my son´s ´ancient´ crib with IKEA-fabric:

  5. Its looking nice but I think applying fabrics on the furniture has its plus as well as negative points too. Its not comfortable for me.. I like simple covered sofa's & chairs.
