Cosy nook for the bed

Dear John and Sherry Petersik,
If you ever need a housesitter, call me. ~ Jules

Sherry says, "Back in January we used a pair of Pax wardrobes (along with the customizable Komplement interior fittings) to create to 'built-in' closest in our bedroom. When we first installed them they looked pretty ghetto... and a bit too Ikea. But with a little effort, we persevered and pimped them out to look like an expensive custom built-in.

before

Ikea moves in

All it took were some curtains (also from Ikea) instead of doors, some baseboard installed as crown molding to bridge the gap between the top of the wardrobes and the ceiling, and a wooden header to make 'em look a lot less like doorless Ikea wardrobes and a lot more like a soft and cozy sleeping nook that just happened to triple our closet space."

ta-dah!

Check out the full bedroom makeover here and whatever you do, don't miss their house tour. It's so so awesome.

  1. Wow, what a brilliant idea! You're right, it looks very cozy and elegant.

I just wonder... Don't the two sizes of curtain clash a bit? Maybe Venetian blinds on the windows would make this room perfect.

    Either way, it's beautiful.

  6. I love what you've done to triple your closet space! Very, very creative and I'm sure a lot more cost/time effective than say, knocking a hole in an existing wall and making a closet out of it. You have taken empty space and gave it utility. I also like how you created crown molding out of the baseboard. It gives a more complete look to the project. Great work! Thanks for sharing!

  17. Love it.. But i have a suggestion about the window. I think it is more beautiful if you put also roman shades for the window since i think you can not close the curtains because of the lamps.
