She says, "We needed a shelving solution and love the look of the
Lack shelves but we couldn't attach the shelves to the wall. We combined the
Broder L-foot brace,
Posts and
Brackets and Lack wall shelves to create a freestanding shelving system.
The width of the Broder system was adjusted to accommodate the 43 1/4" Lack shelves which were then attached to the 10 3/4" Broder brackets with screws. Four of the longer 74 3/4" Lack shelves extend beyond the Broder frame to add visual interest. The longer shelves are evenly distributed and no heavy objects will be placed on the extensions. The Broder posts, brackets and Lack shelves are all well connected and create a stable unit.

ReplyDeleteNice! Only drawback is the price...the Broder L-foot brace alone costs $216.97 (eeep!!!). But I guess if you're recycling your old one then the cost evens out.

Please check your information.
$325? That just seems way too steep for a shelving system like that. It's not my taste (looks a little 'unbalanced' to me) but as long as you like it, that's all that matters.

ReplyDeleteFinally, a Broder hack! There are a lot of things you can do with that system. (I made an awesome broderdesk. I plan to submit it when I finally put the finishing touches on.)
ReplyDeletethe key to saving money with the broder shelf hacks is to not buy the shelves at Ikea. Go to a lumber yard or home depot, and buy some sort of board and have them cut it to the desired length. Home depot has some pretty good boards for that sort of thing. You could also do the same with a big plywood sheet.
The problem with broder is that the smallest bracket is 10.5" long, which makes for some huge shelves. I had to overcome that problem with my desk hack.
also, no question about stability. Broder is rock solid.
