"The kitchen in our new house was too small," says Michael, "so we converted this set of Billy bookcases (with extenders and doors) to a pantry. Note the chairs and legs on the custom table top. The connecting shelf and trim was from cheap particle board shelving you can get at any hardware store.

I love this look!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic! I might steal it when i re-do my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteBilly's make the best pantry cabinets. Love your hack- What a great use of space!
ReplyDeleteVery smart, very cool. Might have to convert a couple of my 11 billies into something like this...
ReplyDeletehey man nice going
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the computer-Lack ?
The link is inspired from a earlier remake of the lack shelf I saw 6-7 years ago. It's not mine tho I'm quite impressed by it, more in a computer way rather then ikea way ;)
Maybe you've seen it before...

ReplyDeleteLooking good. I have low level single and double Billy with doors for my food cupboards.
ReplyDeleteI have the same kitchen floor plan, it seems, and have been looking for something like this. Very nice work!
ReplyDeleteThis is a nice look, can feel the warmth and cozy of my house if i turn it into this way.
ReplyDeleteGreat!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it is possible to hang billy elements in order to have a sort of cabinet...taller than the ikea kitchen one.
Is there anyone that do that hack?
This looke superb. I particularly like the lamp, creates a nice "cherry on top of the cake" feeling to this area.
ReplyDeleteHow did you get the empty shelving in the middle? Don't normally the doors cover exactly half of the bookcase?
ReplyDeleteYou can see the extension is covered by the top of the doors, leaving the middle shelf uncovered.
