Complete your spa bathroom with a wooden shower mat
A little while ago we had this Platta flooring for the bathroom. So hey, why not use it as a shower mat to complete the spa look? That's what Eleazar did.
He's been having it for a few months now and it seems to be holding up. Before you try this you should be aware that the Platta deck has tannic acid which may leak out and stain the floor and grouting.

I actually have a similar tiles in my bathroom (didn't get them at IKEA). They were leftovers from my balcony project.
ReplyDeleteI ended up making a 3x6 tile "rug". The wood floor feels greats on your feet. The only issue is that they are elevated, so they need to be flush near any counter, toilet etc.. Or your feet won't be completely on them and that makes it a bit awkward.
Otherwise, they are really easy to clean (rinse them in the tub) and hide dirt between the cracks really well between cleanings.
This tiles is quite similar to mine too.

Okay, so what do you do about the (potential for) tannic acid stains?
ReplyDeleteYou could probably create some sort of barrier between the tiles and the floor with plastic lining (i know ikea has some for laying down wood floors in high-moisture areas). And it would be much easier to clean if you only have to pick up the two tiles to rinse it of, as opposed to a whole floor.
ReplyDeleteThe tiles I have (got them at Yardiac.com) do not leave any stains.
ReplyDeleteI had to add felt to the bottom as mine were scratching the tile.
