PK simply added Kosing handles to the top of the chest. Measure the centre line of the small drawers against the top piece of the chest (if not, the drawers will get stuck.) Screw in the handles (he added 4 washers as the screws were too long) before assembling the chest as usual.

Could probably use some velcro stips on the sides and across drawers to keep them from opening up when you;re moving it.
ReplyDeleteNeat! I wish I could have gotten my Fira actually put together--the nails included in the box broke/bent easily and the pieces were warped. This happened on all three that I bought (was going to use them as storage) and since I live two hours from the nearest ikea and only go there when I have to be in that area, I ended up having to just throw them away. :(
ReplyDeleteYeah - as a useful hack, this is kind of a stretch. I have one of those Fira mini chests, and the drawers will totally fall out if you tip it forward. Also, the handles don't really look comfortable or useful - it'd be better to place them on the sides like a traditional tool box. A single handle in the center would also work better.
