Ramvik TV and music console

Benny hacks the Ramvik into a music and TV control console.

He says, "I decided to put in a 17" LCD Monitor to control my music and TV stuff. It's not completely finished as the brushed metal frame for the LCD is still missing."

  1. I wanted to do that for Google Earth etc, but I was worried about the viewing angle. Does this work with a normal LCD?

  2. I would love more info about this hack from a computer nerd point of view. How does it "control your music and TV stuff"? :) It sounds like something I'd love to set up for myself, and while I could figure out how to build a screen into a coffee table, the "controlling your media" part has me a bit stumped.

  3. More info please! Where does the LCD get its power from? What is it hooked up to? Computer? Where?

    Tell me everything.

  4. Very confused here... what exactly does this console control? I think it looks great but the intended function is not well explained.

Would love some more info (maybe flicker page) on this and what it does.

    Nice job otherwise!

  6. What a neat hack!

Along with the other questions above, What kind of paint did you use to paint it? Did you sand it and then repaint it?

  10. This looks great but there is a frustrating absence of details. Where are the build instructions? What is the monitor connected to?=[

  11. hey, its Annie, wondering if the LCD is a touch screen, I figure it is, but some don't seem to be getting the point I was wondering if I could get something like this made with a mock baroche/classical french look to it, my household is Greek Cypriot but we aren't very doric column, we're more rustic more influenced by pre WWI years. How much would something like this cost to make?

  12. I took Benny's lead and created a Ramvik computer coffee table that doubles as a HTPC - check it out here:
