she says, "the top was little bit damaged, because our baby daughter enjoyed spilling water at every meal (!), so we decided to apply, on the top, some vintage wallpaper we had. the wallpaper was glued to the top, and then we used a 6mm laminated glass to protect it for our everyday use, water spilling included... the project was extremely fast, cheap and easy, and really transformed a common object into something special."

I love the result! Did you actually find wallpaper as wide as the table?
ReplyDeleteno, I already had this vintage wallpaper saved from another project, and it wasn't as wide as the table.
ReplyDeleteI had to apply it in two different pieces, like if it was on a wall.
Looks great! Very cute! I now have a mind to re-do a table or two in trendy wallpaper to freshen it up.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you buy the glass and how did you get it to perfectly match the size of your table? did you secure the glass down with anything?
ReplyDeleteTo get the glass, I went to a "glass shop" (I'm sorry, but I don't know the correct name in english) and asked for a pre-cutted piece of glass, 6mm thick (they will garantee that this is enough) - the size of the table was 1,20mx0,75.
ReplyDeleteThey deliver it at home - very practical.
To make sure the glass is fixed -VERY IMPORTANT - but not glued on, there are these tiny silicon pieces, specific to prevent glass tops to slip on other glass tables. You can find it in every large supermarket.
Or... you could be laizy, as I am, and just use tiny (really tiny) bits of adhesive pastels. Once you put the glass on top of them, they look perfectly circular and discreet. Look here:
