another way to hang your stolmen

here's another way to skin the stolmen. instead of using the little fixtures to hold the shelves, this idea from pavel of israel works out pretty well too.

he used:
  • 3 laminated wood boards 1800 x 300 x 30 mm
  • 2 stock stolmen posts and 6 end fixtures
  • 12 screws 30 х 4 mm
  • 24 washers 3 x 15 mm
  • 24 washers 1 x 15 mm

  1. can you explain how this was constructed? Did you drill a hole through the shelf? Are the poles run through?

This is confusing as it is now.

  2. For those of us who have not actually used the Stolmen shelves before, some details on how this is different would be nice.

  3. thomas, the stolmen shelves are fixed using an end fixture to the edge of the shelves. this hack drills through the shelves and uses the fixture as support instead. please see how the original stolmen looks here.

  4. I Love it! this is great thanks for giving me inspiration for how I am going to solve my wardrobe dilemma.
For my solution my decor requires that the shelves be black, Ikea does not sell black so I make my own with your style. Also I need a specific width which of course is not compatible with ikeas sizes
