he says, "moved into a loft in downtown L.A. and needed to divide up the living space and create a closet as well. (two full baths but no closet!!!)
anyway, found these ready made counter tops in the as-is section. normally they are 100.00 a piece but got all seven for 10.00 a piece. stood them on end and created this room divider/closet. i built them in a u shape so i could put the wardrobe in and help with stability.i also created a computer desk/couch table with the shorter counter top by adding the chrome adjustable legs.
the wardrobe side is not completed yet but i was able to create the door you see by taking four shelf pieces found in the as-is section as well. i simply stood the pieces on end and inserted aluminum strips from home depot . eventually it will hang on a exposed track with 'barn door' hardware so that it slides in order to maximize space."

The difference is amazing. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome apartment! Your as-is finds really "made" your place!
ReplyDeleteI really like this. Wonderful Job. Was it a wood countertop what you did on the sides of the closet? Can you provide the reference of the countertop? Also, about the small table with the stainless steel legs, is that also an SS top? I just love the way it looks here and I was in the process of buying a the VIKA LAURI glass top with the VIKA MOLIDEN leg. Will you please share which did you use? And feel proud of your project! I really love it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBest hack yet.

ReplyDeleteanyone know what the tv stand is? Is it a ready made item from IKEA?
ReplyDeleteit could be a friel
ReplyDeletewow i want this exact thing for my living room, can the person who did this give me any advice
ReplyDeleteOh I get it-- 7 counter-tops. They frame the wardrobe (two side pieces, a top piece, the four pieces that face the living room) 2+1+4=7
ReplyDeleteThe door that will face the bedroom are the shelves (that match the counters)
The actual shelves inside--the white pieces are different and don't match were not mentioned. Although, I'm guessing they are probably from Home Depot too.
Wow this was really amazing. Genius
Holy Crap. That's straight out of GTA IV! Seriously...anyone who's played it, back me up on this.
ReplyDeleteWht a change from before to after !!
ReplyDeleteGreat Hack! Also the lighting effects you used created a nice mood. Your loft went from a dark-seedy brick-room to an expensive upscale apartment.
ReplyDeleteSweet!
i love the last image bedroom side counter top wall
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, really cool design.
ReplyDeleteThe divider is cool, but the overall change is super. Well done!
ReplyDeletethese are not hacks. Just the way they ended up getting put together. Ever see those pamphlets? Yes not directions.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ian. The divider idea is great. Cool hack! A great inspiration.
