here's an idea! a bonde bookcase dollhouse

carrie over at apartment therapy's ohdeedoh tipped me on a fabulous flickr find. it ain't a hack but i couldn't say no it.

sarah turned a bonde bookcase into a dollhouse, with working lights! it brought out all that girl-envy in me. as carrie noted, the best thing is when your child outgrows the dollhouse, you've got a bookcase ready for service.

  1. What a great idea! For younger kids, you could turn it on its side so it's not too tall for them to reach the top sections.

  2. I used to do this with my Billy bookcase as a kid. My dolls had moved into an apartment following the annihilation of their real doll house by Hurricane Sister. Kind of like a FEMA trailer, but before Katrina and without the formaldehyde.

  3. This would be so cute with different contact paper in each "room" for wallpaper and some furry material scraps as rugs!

  4. Yay! That's my dollhouse.

Andrea: I'm working on that part actually, the house isn't anywhere near finished. I'm just SO picky about the wallpaper I can't find any I like.

  6. Very nice and creative but it requires some skills and creative minds to do that.

  7. I wonder if you could scan in a sample of regular sized wallpaper, reduce it on a computer and then print it out on an inkjet or color laser printer.

  8. This is exactly what I was looking for! I am writing a build your own dollhouse guide for those not interested in woodworking, using ready made cube or bookshelves. I used my bookshelf as a dollhouse when I was a kid. This one is perfect. Looks nice and stylish too! (Sarah loved your pics on flickr too) I am going to link back to this cool dollhouse from my guide! I think I need a road trip to Ikea too! Wooden Dollhouses

  10. Bonjour,

Cette idée est vraiment excellente, d'autant qu'elle servira toujours de bibliothèque, quand la petite fille grandira...

Merci pr cette idée que j'avais commencé en cartons pour ma petite fille
