so kim got sick of neon orange, which was all the rage a couple of years back. thankfully, it's nothing a little mod podge can't fix. here's how she saved neon orange kaxas dvd shelf."i had 3 of these ugly neon orange kaxas (i believe that is their name, i don't think they sell them anymore) dvd shelves and i just wasn't feeling the neon anymore. so, with 2 rolls of martha stewart crafts wrapping paper in endive flourish and a small jar of mod podge i decoupaged them into these beauties!
i had to take them apart to get the doors off, but it was relatively easy and the doors still open and close just fine."

wow, those are stunning! waaaay better than the standard ikea shelves!
ReplyDeleteNo longer love neon orange? Blasphemy! Good job on the mod, but neon orange is still for me.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely and it looks much more serene than the neon orange. I love them.
ReplyDeletegreat article in the times today!
ReplyDeleteWow. love the new look!
ReplyDeleteLove the look - much much better than orange (the color of insanity). Just an FYI - I use ModPodge quite a lot for journal/etc. decoration and if you don't seal it with something like clear coat/acrylic the first hot, muggy day you hit, it will get tacky and mess itself up!

What an update! No more hideous orange! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say that orange was much better looking. It isn't a brilliant design, but for the colour, so if you take the colour away nothing's left of it. Sorry
ReplyDeleteWow anonymous. I suppose to each his own.
ReplyDeletei agree with the anonymous poster above who liked the orange. why not just get new plexi cut for the doors in another (now trendy) color, or just clear, if that's what floats your boat? it can't be that hard to reattach the handles...
ReplyDeleteI think it looks WAYYY better with the paper and purple paint! Great job!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get tired of the shelves and they are not damaged, let me knowI'd offer you a fair price for them. I have 16 other white/orange shelves and would like a few more. I can be reached at superthom@rogers.com, thanks, Thomas
