sofa table from salvaged ikea table legs
erika chapin, editor of cribcandy and popgloss sends me this gorgeous sofa table made from bamboo plywood and salvaged imfors legs. love love love the simple sleek lines.

"my husband and i found 2 imfors tables at a yard sale last month for $15.00 each. he took a 3/4 inch 4x10 sheet of amber bamboo plywood and cut it straight down the middle, lightly sanded and finished with a clear coat. he then used all six of the legs from the imfors table to create this perfect sofa table for our low leather sofa."

Where the heck do you get bamboo plywood??? I don't recall ever seeing it at big box stores like Home Depot or Lowes. I'd really like to pick some up for some projects.....
ReplyDeleteI love that!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! I'm curious about the bamboo plywood too...is it expensive?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know where you get bamboo plywood also. Would you happen to be in the LA area?
ReplyDeleteThis is great. I wish I could find some of those legs.
ReplyDeletevery nice. mid-century modern looking.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond a hack...this is true design! Great work.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! It looks like something out of a mid-century design book.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful comments! You can contact www.buildersgreensource.com in the LA are to find your nearest dealer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive comments. We love it too, but it is the model that makes it special. This material is widely available. The premier manufacturer is Smith & Fong's "Plyboo" products. For a local dealer check @ www.plyboo.com or in So Cal @ www.buildersgreensource.com
ReplyDeletethe table looks fantastic - WANT! also, what are your floors made of? we desperately need to remodel the downstairs flooring and what you have looks great!
ReplyDeletetrue design?

ReplyDeleteIt's not cheap, last time I got a quote on a 4x8 sheet it was over $400 a sheet
$400?!?!?!!
ReplyDeleteI thought the whole point of bamboo was that it is a quick growing grass? Shouldn't that help drive the price down? Why is it that "green" always seems to be synonymous with expensive?
If your getting quotes for $400 a panel you should stop dealing with that suppler immediately! A 4x8 panel should retail for about $200.
ReplyDeletenow who really built those..... not who came up with the idea...... but who really sanded finished and cut this..... i get the feeling it's not who erica says did it..... just a hunch
ReplyDeleteThe floors are burnished concrete. Super kid and pet friendly and the house stays nice and cool in the summer!
ReplyDeleteAnd- I beg to differ. I could and have sanded and refinished several pieces of furniture. But as I said- Mr. Hubby was the muscle behind this one.
Absolutly gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI agree that your hack is outstanding. Could you tell me where you got that gorgeous screen in the background? It adds so much to the room.

What a great and simple project. Unfortunately now Imfors is history and so I am left wondering, where the heck can I find table legs like this? I even went to the "as is" section of my local IKEA and found nothing. :(
ReplyDeleteGREAT!!! AMAZING!!! genius to come up with a simple idea like this!!!
