i usually drop the lower shelf a little just to fit more rack units in, but that's pretty easy. a couple of strips of racking later and they just fit a 19" rack module perfectly!"

Freakin' genius! $15 table & $10 worth of rack rail = the same as $150 specialty product. Or how about a combination of the Corras table & the Vika studio setup featured on this site?
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I think of that?
Hi, so great to find you. I am starting my work at Ikea tomorrow. I am a recent college graduate and maybe turning my job at Ikea into a career. i was just wondering how nice it is to work at Ikea and if there is chance for advancement.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah,it's great.
ReplyDeleteJust mind the screws when put those rack ears in place - pre-drill the holes to avoid cracks - the tree on those Ikea racks is quite thin.
I use a couple of those for a couple of years.
Is that a 10 string Chapman stick?
ReplyDeleteZOMG!!!
Pretty damn cool article, I built my Studio desk from scratch using a hacked Ikea pc tower and some boards from B&Q it's huge and mobile. Nice to see other people doing the same.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone !
ReplyDeleteInspired by this article (I hope the object isn't copyrighted !), I decided to make my own.
It worked, even if I didn't succeed to find where to buy the rack bars for the screws !
I found another way to fix my stuff.
Everything is detailed on the following tutorial (it is in French, but many French people know the post I'm curently commenting ; otherwise, use google translate or your imagination with the photos !) :

Thanks a lot for the idea !

Where can you purchase the rack rail? I'm interested in doing this and would love to see a parts list.
ReplyDeleteeven cheaper than rack rail ... just take 1" strip of Pine wood and glue/screw into place as a substitution for rack rails.
ReplyDeleteYou can then use metal/ wood screw to secure your rack equipment.
Can you actually play that Chapman stick? Now THAT would be truly impressive.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea ! I've heard of the Lack tables from ikea but this looks great !
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your ideas!
Is it a Chapman Stick? Or is it made from one of these? http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/20091787/
ReplyDeleteHi how many space rack rails do you use?
