"i always see these stylish tv panel/bench combinations in designer shops and they were all at least 1000 EUR. the combination in the pictures shown is all together about 400 EUR and consists of the following parts:
2 besta benches
4 besta holmbo drawer fronts
2 besta holmbo doors as wall panels
1 lack wall shelf
3 grundtal spotlights
the benches and the lack shelf were installed as per instructions. the doors for the wall panel are fixed with one 14mm bolt each to the wall.
this is making me love the besta range even more!
[thank you, readymade blog for the very nice shoutout! also, ikeahacker made the news in germany on spiegel online. thanks, konrad!]

Hi, I just read the story on spiegel online. Thomas Meyer who run a german version of ikeahacker had to stop his blog because IKEA forbid the use of the domain (which was ikeahacker.de). What does this mean for your blog? I hope IKEA will not do the same thing with this domain... Or do you have a different legal basis in the USA? Please tell me your not going to stop this blog!
ReplyDeleteThat hack is amazing!
ReplyDeleteTo finish it off, consider using the Akurum kitchen plinths (with legs). It'll give the Besta benches some added height and make it look lighter/sleeker.
ReplyDeleteheldin, ikea has thus far let me be and i'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will continue to do so ... for the benefits of all us ikea hackers and fans. unless they clamp down on me, i'm should be running this till they bury me in a billy coffin.
ReplyDeletewow what a eye soothing template. Can u get me one???
ReplyDeleteWow--that is one damn impressive hack.
ReplyDeleteThat's super sleek. I love it.
ReplyDeleteNice! I'd so do that, but I need space for components (DVD, amp, Cable box...).
ReplyDeleteCan you get doors instead of drawers for the besta bench?
wow looks so sleek and clean...and your side view shows you have a really nice place...do I see a lake behind the woman sitting there??? I am so jelous!!
ReplyDeleteActually, I dont know if there are doors for this besta bench. I recently put a receiver in one of the drawers where I removed the bottom an the back of the drawer, it's more or less now just the front. But the remote does not work with it. Some Glas solution would be perfect. Could also be a nice contrast. let me know if you find something.
ReplyDeleteWhy is this considered a hack? All you did was copy what's shown on page 6 of the catalog.
ReplyDelete"Look at me...I put books in a Billy bookcase....cool hack, eh?"
:\
Hiho,
ReplyDeleteI would like to know which drawers are used.
Great Work
So long

How about a smaller (half) length sized unit, that would sit on top of the Besta bench? That way, I could fit a center speaker underneath the TV? Does Ikea make something that would fit?

39" kitchen wall cabinet.
ReplyDeleteget 2 and cut the one so its half the height.
I was thinking of the same sort of setup - except Besta is not available in white (for the frame) in North America yet. At least I haven't seen it....?

Would the kitchen cabinet be available in black-brown, and also would it support a TV? 37inch flat screen LCD.
This is strikingly beautiful. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteHow do you place the Besta Holmbo Doors in the wall?
ReplyDeleteThanks
i may use this idea! and then under the lack shelf put a rail and hang a 26in. framed artwork to slide back and forth over the TV to hide it.
ReplyDeletei love this idea and may use it! i was thinking that i could also add a rail under the lack shelf so that i can hang a picture frame that i could slide back and forth for instant TV coverage.
ReplyDeleteHow did you manage to get the glossy finish on the "besta holmbo drawer fronts" and the "besta holmbo doors".
ReplyDeleteThe ones that I have seen at Ikea have kind of a dull finish.
nice!
ReplyDeleteYes, how DID you mount the Besta doors onto the wall? More importantly, did you mount the TV onto the doors or the wall??
ReplyDeleteThanks!
