okay, this isn't exactly a hack, it's a business. still, i love the idea of providing ikea customers with options. bemz does beautiful slipcovers made to ikea armchairs, sofas and cushion specifications. the site is a virtual changing room for sexy sofas. click on the swatches and before you can say "klippan!" your ikea sofa gets dressed in different hues and patterns.
hmm ... i hope they soon do quilt covers, bed trims and the like as well.

how do I contact the person who makes Klippan sofas?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Kelley
klippan sofas are sold in ikea stores. for customized klippan slipcovers, you can try www.bemz.com
ReplyDeleteoh, my god. thank you for posting this. i've been trying to find a slip cover for an old ikea karlanda that i picked up off of craigslist and have been dissatisfied with the few slipcover colors i've seen on ebay. plus, it's so awesome that they send you swatches so you can test the exact color in the living room before you commit!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to find a cool slipcover for my old IKEA TULKA sofa but wasn't succesful, Bemz doesn't have it ... Any idea where to find it ?
Cheers
Alex
I've done the Bemz thing, should look again but the last time I saw options, none were worth over and above what Ikea has. THE ULTIMATE would be for some clever Ikea hack person to formulate and publish PATTERNS for us industrious home seamstresses to make our own out of whatever fabric we choose. I may resort to a seam ripper and use my current cover as a template, thinkabbaoudit cha-ching!
ReplyDeletebemz.com sucks - webpage doesn't show details and doesn't work correctly. bullshit.
ReplyDeleteI have super comfy but super stain-ey white Ikea Anneberg sleeper sofa and loveseat. Dont want to through them away but can't find covers. Anybody know where I can find this vintage design? Wish Bemz had a larger selection...
ReplyDeletePLEASE when you find someone who makes Anneberg slipcovers, share it with me. I've been looking like crazy. Thanks.
DeleteI just found a new site called www.savemysofa.com that does covers for Ikea ranges as well, including Kippan and Karlanda
ReplyDeleteJust translated the savemysofa prices into US dollars, after shipping, you can get a new sofa for less at IKEA. Interesting that this site and BEMZ are foreign-based. You'd think an American would have caught on my now. Still toying with making my own...would love to hear from someone who has done it.
ReplyDeleteHallelujah! I found someone in the United States that makes custom Ikea slipcovers. Here is the link http://marlenesurbanbliss.com/ Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteTry this www.weuweu.com
DeleteHallo....I live in Holland now.
ReplyDeleteI was about to order Klippan cover from Bemz too, but I thought it too expensive.
Then I bought the black one, put in my old klippan and tried with my nice bed cover that I have from Thailand, my hometown
It look so nice , my husband like it so much.
and now, almost everyday I really enjoy to change my klippan. you can see from my blog.

I have the sater sofa and NO ONE makes this slipcover--not even ikea. Please help!
ReplyDeleteI genuinely don't understand why people would pay more for a new cover than for a whole covered sofa.
ReplyDeleteI genuinely don't understand why anyone in a city with access to decorator clearance fabric (often found here in LA for $5ish a yard) and upholsterers doesn't realize they'll build slipcovers for whatever you bring in the door. You don't have to find someone who makes covers for YOUR sofa, you need to find someone who makes slipcovers PERIOD, discounted fabric plus labor only WILL be much cheaper than a new sofa Cathy.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Things is, though, the ikea stuff is so modular/simply shaped, I don't know why more people don't just go for it and make one. It will take about 6 hours for the whole project, but with an old bed sheet or muslin, and you can make your own pattern, and keep making new slipcovers.
DeleteI found a new website (probably), offering slipcovers for ikea furniture. Take a look: http://www.eslipcovers.com
